Sharpe Academy prides itself on offering places, not based on academic grades, but on individual skill and performance.

We do not require:

Minimum academic grades
Previous vocational training
Formal school qualifications
A traditional educational background

Whether a young person has attended school, been home educated or followed a different educational pathway, we assess every applicant as an individual.

What We Look For

At Sharpe Academy, we are interested in three things:

1. Can you sing, or could we teach you how to sing with the right lessons?

2. Can you dance, or could we build your skill through structured training?

3. Can you act, or could we develop you into a confident and truthful actor over time?

Applicants do not need to arrive as finished performers. They need enthusiasm, commitment, potential and a willingness to learn.

Our job is to identify that potential and help turn it into professional-level ability.

Full-Time and Part-Time Training

Full-Time Training for Students Aged 16+

For students aged 16 and above, Sharpe Academy offers a full-time Three-Year Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre & Acting.

This intensive course provides training in:

Singing - Solo & Ensemble
Acting - Stage & Screen - Includes perfomring in 1 play each year
Musical Theatre - Includs performing in 2 Musicals each Year
Dance - Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary
Acrobatics
Stage Combat
Audition Technique
Professional and Industry Preparation - Our very own in-house agency will guide you towards full time jobs with work experience opportunities available throughout the course.
UCAS Points and Future Progression - At Sharpe Academy, we believe every student should graduate with choices. As part of our commitment to supporting each student's future, we actively encourage our younger students to work towards Level 3 Performing Arts qualifications that carry UCAS Tariff points in subjects including Acting, Ballet, Tap and Modern. This means that, alongside developing as performers, students can build the qualifications needed to progress to university should they decide that a professional performing career is not the right path for them. Whether their ambition is to perform professionally, or progress to university, we want every graduate to leave Sharpe Academy with options.

Part-Time Training for Students Under 16

For younger students, we offer a range of weekly classes in:

Musical theatre
Jazz
Modern
Tap
Ballet
Acrobatics

Students can also take additional LAMDA Acting examinations, helping them develop confidence, communication skills and performance technique.

A child does not need to know whether they want a professional career before joining us.

They may attend because performing is a hobby, because they want to make friends, because they need greater confidence or because they are beginning to consider a future in the arts.

Whatever their reason for joining, our team will help them develop in a supportive, disciplined and encouraging environment.

Some students follow a highly structured academic programme, while others learn more independently. Our admissions process recognises that there is no single educational route into the performing arts.

We are interested in the person in front of us, not the school they attended or the grades written on a piece of paper.

Auditioning for Sharpe Academy

Students applying for the full-time course are invited to audition so that our team can assess their current ability, potential and suitability for professional training.

The audition is not designed to catch applicants out.

It allows us to understand:

What the student can already do
Where further training is needed
How they respond to direction
Whether they have the commitment required
How Sharpe Academy could help them progress

Previous professional training is not required.

Potential, attitude and willingness to develop are what matter most.
