On Saturday 2nd October 2010 Sharpe Academy took a group of 23 students to visit BBC Television Centre in London.

Our tour included a look around the BBC News Centre, a glimpse inside several studios used for daytime television shows and a tour of the historic building. Some students also had a chance to use green screen technology to read the weather, play their own game version of The Weakest Link and read the news whilst others sat in the gallery, controlling the cameras, microphones, lights and autocue. A great time was had by all.

At the end of our visit we were also lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Robbie Williams as he arrived for his performance on Strictly Come Dancing. This was certainly a trip to repeat in the future.

On Sunday 4th July 2010 Sharpe Academy performed our End of Year Showcase at The Ryan Theatre in Harrow on the Hill.

This compilation musical had all Musical Theatre students aged 3-25 performing for family and friends in this 380-seat theatre with lights, microphones and a great back projection system. With a live 4-piece band, numbers included songs from Chicago, The Sound of Music, Mamma Mia, Barnum, Fame, Love Never Dies and many more.

The show culminated with the LAMDA certificate presentation. Our final song – which is always the first full company number of the following year's Showcase – was Joyful Joyful from Sister Act 2.
